just wanted to know if it would be possible for me to make fiberglass quarters and if so how would it be done, cause im getting the fenders, hood, bumpers, side skirts, trunklid, but have problems going about the quarter panels cuz where would i be welding them on from....if u have any ideas it would be great help thanks....

go carbon fiber

Just paint over them anyways, they will be lighter, just very pricey to do.

You would have to made a mould of each quarter panel. Then lay the fibreglass in the mould. Once the fibreglass hardens pop it out of mould and trim to fit. Very messy job. Plus you will need to figure out a way to attach them to the car.

yeah thats the problem for me is the ataching part i can have them made no problem just cant figure out how they would go on..

Not too sure but I swear that the quarters on foxes are attatched to the roof....In that case, you'd likely have to rivet the glass quarters to the rest of the car and bondo over the rivets.

Seems like a bit of a waste of time to me, for all the weight you're gonna save it's not worth it IMO, unless the car is that rotten, and if that be the case, get a new car lol.

i see what ur saying i guess u might have a point about it being time consuming. mine is a convertible and the quarters are pretty bad so yeah might try and rivet them on i guess im gonna have to see after i remove them but thanks for the help everyone...

Well don't they bolt on then? THAT might not be so bad, I thought it was a hard top....that would be pointless if it was. They also could be crimped together like most rocker panels are....that wouldn't be SO bad, but again...probably have to rivet as it'd be awefully difficult to crimp glass.

If your quarters are that bad, why not cut out the bad spots and make glass patch panels, or steel patch panels and glass them in?

well the thing is i really wanna stay away from glass patch panels, and taught if im gonna do something might as well go the extra distance and try it out see how it goes and for me to have them made wouldnt be much of a hassle considering my brother owns a bodyshop

Hey man, give er, if you can get them made for you.....personally, I've worked with glass and bondo ALOT mostly in audio systems and while the end result is well worth it, getting there, sucks.

But yea, if you figure out how to mount them then you might as well do it.
