just had a question, i baught my stang almost a year ago, and i bumped in to the previous owner a few days ago, and he was telling me that the motor was supposedly done with some internals and what not, but he has no clue of what could have been done, cause when he baught it thats wat he was told, is there a way that i could figure out what has been done to it, considering the car has not been on the road yet so i cant actually drive it and see how it runs. thanks in advance

Depends on what internals have been done.

If it has a forged crank and I beam rods you'd obviously have to at least drop the oil pan and even then you might not be able to tell.

Find pic of the stock internals and compare to what you have.

If it was redone with stock parts then I don't see a way you'd be able to see...you'd have to check everything for wear and compare to parts off a car of the same mileage.

It could always be one of those " well I heard it so it must be true and it makes it worth the the $$$ you're paying " deals...

quite often people will inflate the amount of work they've had done to their cars so they can boost the amount of cash they get... its unfortunate but true.

In these situations its always best to assume the car is stock and any upgrades found later are a bonus. A "friend" of mine sold a former customer of mine a complete parts car that allegedly had a rebuilt 302 with a cam, ported heads, ported stock intake that turned out to be a complete pile of dog **** with bearings worn to the ground. I heard it run, briefly, and it sounded great to me and just looking at the motor it at least looked like it had been apart. So I figured it was the truth. I'm still surprised to this day that I actually believed it. Long story short, never believe what you hear only what you see.
